For property owners who purchase parcels in Maui County that are over 1 acre and located in Maui County Agricultural Zoning Districts, State Land Use Agricultural Districts, or both, that require approved County farm plans and implementation of said plans to construct a farm dwelling on the parcel, Island Landscape is here to help.
We assist those owners who don’t have the time, expertise, or interest in creating and maintaining a farm, but who care about agriculture and agricultural preservation and want to enjoy the benefits of a farm. We enter into a comprehensive plant-based farm partnership with the owner to help them meet their farming requirements.
Our Plant-Based Farm Partnership Package Includes:
Farm consulting and planning, reviewing various plant agriculture and agricultural preservation options with the owner(s) to maximize their enjoyment of and benefits from their farm and enhance the beauty of the property by coordinating the farm plan with the dwelling and overall landscaping. A variety of plant options will be explored based on the interests of the owner(s) and USDA zoning. Possible plant varieties for Farm Plans include, but are not limited to: coffee, fruit trees, crops, hard woods, herbs, nuts, cut flowers, organics, landscape/ornamentals, drought resistant plants, and natives.
Creating the Maui County Farm Plan with the owner, including providing the required map, showing areas and approximate acres to be planted and/or areas to be maintained in agricultural land conservation, and the written description of the types of plant varieties intended to be propagated on the parcel and the percentages of each expressed in terms of parcel size. Island Landscape specializes in plant-based agriculture and can coordinate plant options with owners that are also interested in incorporating animal options in their Farm Plan.
Assisting the owner(s) with filing the Maui County Farm Plan application with the Planning Department.
Implementing the plant-based portion of the approved Farm Plan, including property preparation and securing and planting of plants. Implementation of any animal options would be the responsibility of the owner(s).
Ongoing upkeep and maintenance of the plant portion of the farm, providing owners with the satisfaction of having a productive farm, without all the work.
Complying with State and County regulations.
Giving the owner(s) beauty and pleasure from a well maintained, hassle-free farm.
